This will be a small case of one unusual book. In it I placed my thoughts on what makes a person immortal.

Это будет небольшой кейс одной необычной книги. В ней я поместила своё размышление о том, что делает человека бессмертным.

The book has a wooden double-leaf design, inspired by ancient Ethiopian icons, Coptic books and Tibetan portable shrines.

Книга имеет деревянную двустворчатую конструкцию, на это меня вдохновили древние эфиопские иконы, копсткие книги и тибетские переносные святилища.

Although the book contains a biblical story about the Garden of Eden and Adam and Eve, this has nothing to do with religiosity, these are just my thoughts based on well-known images.

Хоть в книге и живёт библейский сюжет о райском саде и Адаме и Еве, однако к религиозности это не имеет никакого отношения, это лишь мои мысли на основе известных образов.

It is believed that Adam and Eve were expelled and punished for the sin they committed. They lost paradise, realizing their own mortality. Although in the original sources of Christianity there was actually no sin, but that’s not the point now. For me, death is just a bodily practice and there is no need for the philosopher’s stone or black magic to continue existing))

Считается, что Адам и Ева были изгнаны и наказаны за совершённый грех. Они утратили рай, осознав собственную смертность. Хотя в первоисточниках христианства на самом деле не было никакого греха, но сейчас не об этом. Для меня смерть лишь телесная практика и для продолжения существования не нужен философский камень или чёрная магия))

But let's take it in order. The book consists of several wooden parts. Wood, as a material, was not chosen by me by chance; it is a reference to the central image of Eden, namely the Tree of Life, as if it is part of that very tree that can reveal the main secret of existence.

Но всё же давайте по порядку. Книга состоит из нескольких деревянных частей. Дерево, как материал выбран мною не случайно, это отсылка к центральному образу Эдема, а именно к Древу Жизни, будто это часть того самого дерева, которое может расскрыть главную тайну бытия.

At first glance, the most important secret of life is where it comes from and where it goes, neither of which is given to us to know. But this is not what interests me, but what is between the two main points of the path. Who is the person on this path? What is destined for him on this path?

На первый взгляд, самая главная тайна жизни это откуда она приходит и куда уходит, ни то, ни другое нам знать не дано. Но меня интересует не это, а то, что между двумя главными пунктами пути. Кто же человек на этом пути? Что предназначено ему на этом пути?

On the closed doors I placed the outlines of branches and white birds as symbols of the soul. They seem to mark the territory of the divine, preceding the entrance to the sacred space where I left the message primarily for myself. After all, everything that I create is a conversation with myself and through this intimate dialogue, I speak to the world.

На закрытых створках я расположила очертания ветвей и белых птиц, как символы души. Они будто обозначают территорию божественного, предворяя вход в сакральное пространство, где я оставила послание в первую очередь для себя. Ведь всё, что я создаю - это беседа с самой собой и через этот сокровенный диалог, я говорю с миром.

When the book opens, a trunk appears in the center and an egg in a golden halo. A symbol of the emergence of new life, creation, the mystery of the transition from non-existence to existence, and here is the birth of an idea.

Когда же книга расскрывается, то в центре появляется ствол и в золотом ореоле яйцо. Символ возникновения новой жизни, созидания, тайны перехода из небытия в бытие, а здесь зарождение идеи.

On the left door, under the shade of a golden tree, two people sit: Adam and Eve. Please note that all images are presented in a classic form, only the palette, brushes and paints take us a little away from the ordinary interpretation. Why can't Adam and Eve be artists? Creators? - I thought. Each of us has a sacred fire, a spark of God, which makes us so close to the Almighty.

На левой створке под сенью золотого дерева сидят двое: Адам и Ева. Заметьте, все образы представлены в классическом виде, лишь палитра, кисти и краски немного уводят нас от обыденной трактовки. Почему же Адам и Ева не могут быть художниками? Творцами? - подумала я. В каждом из нас есть священный огонь, божья искра, которая так роднит нас с Всевышним.

For me, creativity, art, science are the most important points of human development, so we constantly feel the call to create. Yes, against the backdrop of catastrophes, this is precisely what gives hope and faith that, in addition to cruelty and violence, a person is capable of something greater than himself and his terrible games with death.

Для меня творчество, искусство, наука - важнейшие точки раскрытия человека, поэтому мы постоянно чувствуем зов к созиданию. Да, на фоне катастроф именно это даёт надежду и веру, что кроме жестокости и насилия человек способен на нечто большее, чем он сам и его страшные игры со смертью.

This is the immortality of the human soul - in the desire for creation one can gain immortality. Man is a guide, author, creator, call it what you want. Man is capable of creating man, is capable of creating art, thereby being imprinted in time and space, leaving imprints and traces everywhere, being imprinted in people and continuing in children.

В этом и есть бессмертие человеческой души - в стремлении к сотворению можно обрести бессмертие. Человек - проводник, автор, творец, называйте как хотите. Человек способен сотворить человека, способен сотворить искусство, тем самым запечатлиться во времени и пространстве, оставить отпечатки и следы повсюду, запечатлиться в людях и продолжиться в детях.

On the right flap I placed the phrase: immortal is the one who transforms the earthly world through creation. Yes, I believe in transforming the world for the better, although I don’t hope for a bright future. It sounds pretentious, but this does not mean that painting or theater can stop war or prevent injustice, but every time I hear the roll call of great masters in space, I see those small steps towards awakening the soul, I feel support and, most importantly, I feel my own desire for knowledge and myself , other people, nature, the world and space.

На правой створке я поместила фразу: бессмертен тот, кто сотворением преображает мир земной. Да, я верю в преображение мира в лучшую сторону, хотя и не надеюсь на светлое будущее. Звучит пафосно, однако это не значит, что живопись или театр может остановить войну или предотвратить несправедливость, но каждый раз я слышу перекличку великих мастеров в пространстве, вижу те маленькие шаги к пробуждению души, чувствую поддержку и самое важное ощущаю собственное стремление к познанию и себя, других людей, природы, мира и космоса.

Only we ourselves, with small steps, can lead humanity to something real. To the real person in oneself, to the divine in oneself, and therefore to the miracle of life.

Только мы сами маленькими шагами способны привести человечество к чему-то настоящему. К настоящему человеку в себе, к божественному в себе, а значит к чуду жизни.
